Why You Should Shop Local in Parker this Holiday Season

As we enter the holiday season, the days are getting colder, the Mainstreet lights are being turned on earlier, and you may already be considering what gifts to get your loved ones. We here at P3 work daily to enhance Parker through collaboration and investment in the community. While this often means bringing together developers, residents, and local government leaders to encourage projects, it also means supporting our current businesses located in our Urban Renewal Areas.

We support our local businesses in a couple of ways; one is through our Façade and Landscape Improvement Program (FLIP), which allows existing businesses to update their exterior and landscaping through various projects. The other is through encouraging a stronger local economy.

The truth is, residents have the power this season to help stimulate the Parker economy. According to the National Retail Federation, American families spend nearly $1,000 on average on gifts and holiday items each year. Imagine the impact this support could have on Parker and local business owners!

To start, here are a couple of ways you can support local business owners:

Buying Local Keeps it Local

The money you spend at a local business does more than make that business money. Buying local helps stimulate the economy by giving local businesses the opportunity to hire more employees, who then, in turn, can spend that money in the community.

Additionally, our local businesses support our local nonprofits, schools, and community events and needs each year. Companies look for ways to give back and invest in the community. Local business owners will always be more likely to donate to local charities and causes.

When You Buy Local You Help Parker Stay Unique

Our downtown is the heart of Parker. Our local businesses, restaurants, and gathering spaces help define Parker’s personality and how we engage as a community. The dollars you spend locally help determine what you want to see in our downtown.

Beyond that, our local businesses have unique items and products in their shop, so you can get a little creative with your holiday shopping.

We encourage you this holiday season to not just think of shopping as another chore to check off your to-do list. Instead, spend an afternoon in Parker, talking to our shop owners, drinking local brews and hot chocolate, and finding that perfect gift.

While you’re there, say hi to your neighbors, enjoy the public art, and soak up the season’s greetings. It’s all part of what makes Parker… Parker, and we tend to think that’s pretty great.
